![]() ![]() It works either by Dual Boot or Auto loading when an OS9 game needs it.Be sure to max out the memory, an easy inexpensive upgrade. I burned a backup of the OS9 folders and dumped them on the newer drive after installing OSX. The bigger drive gives plenty more room, a 20gb will fill very fast. OS9 needs to be running for the Firmware update. Keep OS9 20gb drive as a backup, just in case you did not do the Firmware correctly. I would get a bigger IDE drive, easily found for around ten bucks. At least burn all the OS9 folders to a CDR in case you want it later on. Believe me its worth keeping and does not take too much room. Very handy for all the classic games such as the ones I mentioned earlier. Unlike newer Macs, the iMac G3 has the unique capability of running both OS. If an OS9 game runs, OS9 will boot in the background, very non intrusive. You don't even have to Dual Boot, just leave OS9 in there and boot OSX normally. You can install OSX right on top of OS9 with the option of keeping OS9. The Firmware is very easy to do, just make sure the power stays on during the process. The newest OSX that will run in your G3 is Tiger 10.4. The iMac will brick if you install OSX and the firmware is not up to date. Other problems I'm having are simply getting other games to work (SFIII, SFIII: DI, SVC Chaos, Metal Slug 5, KoF2003) but I guess that has to do w/ the version of games and the out-of-date MAME.CRTGAMER on wrote:I can't over emphasize enough about checking and updating the Firmware before installing OSX. I'm having better luck with MAME OS X but it is still running extremely slow!! Any help on either issue would be GREATLY appreciated!!! At first I tried using MacMAME but the game would literally move at only a frame every 30 seconds. I installed the CHDs for both in the correct folder. I'm also having this same issue, only much MUCH worse, with the Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct 2 ROMs. Any ideas and/or tips on how to fix this issue? Basically when finally getting SFIII: 3rd Strike to run and "installing" the CD, the game runs very slow and choppy. Running MAME OSX 0.135 and I'm on a pretty up-to-date system (3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB of RAM) so I doubt it's a hardware issue on my end. ![]() I'm having similar problems with Street Fighter III and some other ROMs also. I am trying to open the game highlighted: Here are some pictures to help explain this more clearly: I also tried putting them in the roms folder as unzipped files and I still get the error. I have tryed putting both the files in one zip and was told the same error. However, the GUI front-ends I've tried were all pretty disappointing. So the right files are there yet it still says it cannot find the cap-33s-2.chd file. Having first thought MAME OSX wouldn't work with 10.9 Mavericks I went ahead an installed SDL-MAME which worked fine. These are the files I have put in this roms folder: So I put them in library>application support>Mame OSX>ROMS. zip files of the rom in the roms directory. I have looked for help in other places and it tells me I need to put the. I look there and it tells me this:ĮRROR: required files are missing, the game cannot be run. ![]() Here's the problem when I try and open the game (Street Fighter III) it tells me that some of the files were missing and that I should look in the log window. I have downloaded the program MAME OSX in an effort to try and run some arcade games, a feature that I was always jealous of Windows users. I am working on an IMAC Intel Core duo processor G5. ![]()
